The trip to Alexandria was a 2 1/2 hour train ride.  The first class cars have 3 seats across, 2 on one side of the aisle and 1 on the other.  Second class seats are a little narrower as they are 2 on each side of the aisle.

Our stay in Alexandria was short - too short.  We arrived about noon and we left the following morning for Siwa.  However, our afternoon of sightseeing was very full.  Our first stop was the catacombs.  Once again, cameras were not allowed.  Next was the Roman amphitheater.

An Alexandria landmark
After the amphitheater it was on to the Citadel.  Then it was lunch, the library and the President's palace.
The surprise highlight of our Alexandria tour was the library.  The library is new - 2002.  It is an amazing place both outside and especially inside.
